Microsoft and Google exist to find, hire and neutralize potentially disruptive clever programmers. The last thing they need is for some young genius to come along and make their industry’s attractive profits evaporate like MS did to IBM or Google did to $EveryOtherSearchEngine.
Do you think $SmartGuyFounder would have ever changed the world if he was a worker bee at $BigCorp? Would Apple be Apple if HP had hired Steve Jobs or been able to keep Steve Wozniak?
It’s diabolically clever, just pay them well, give them lots to do and gently weave them into the status quo.
